Trying to work through Malcolm Cecil’s theory for record production, this makes for a creative process with a focus more on making creative music as an interaction between producer, engineer and artist without interference from the business of music.
We have recorded a cover of ‘Waves’ by Superette for a KIWIFM special thingy. What a beautiful song, please go check out the original version. This was recorded by Olly Harmer and Jol Mulholland at The Lab in Mt Eden, Auckland. The She’s So Rad HQ is also in the same building so it was super cool to just trot on down the hallway and thrash out a few numbers through the Neve console. Personally I think the two blue Fender guitars really add some complexity to the situation, Lake Placid Blue Coronado and an Ocean Turquoise Jazzmaster. If only they were both Lake Placid Blue with matching headstocks. Oh well… And also this is the first clip with our full band! John Parker on the drums and Phil Hadfield on the bass. Filmed by Pikdat.
